Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) uses fat from your body to improve your derriere's size, shape, and symmetry. The fat for BBL is taken from a "donor area" with fat to spare, most often the thighs and hips, abdomen and flanks, and lower and mid back. However, while these are often the most popular donor sites, fat can be taken from any area of the body and transferred to the buttocks for a BBL.

To be a good candidate for Brazilian Butt Lift, you need to have sufficient fat in another area of your body that can be used to improve and enhance definition. In addition, to be a good BBL candidate, you must be in generally good health, prepared for a surgical procedure, and able to take time off to recover.

Recovery from BBL can take several weeks, during which time there are restrictions on activity and other considerations. This time is essential for reducing risks and improving outcomes.

Diet After a BBL

During the recovery phase of your Brazilian Butt Lift, eating a diet high in lean protein and healthy fats will be necessary. Good options include nuts and seeds, healthy oils such as olive oil, fruits with healthy fats such as avocados and coconuts, and complex carbs such as those found in whole grains and vegetables. Maintaining this type of diet following recovery can help extend your results as well.

Fat transfer is forever, but lifestyle choices can result in future buttock sagging. Diet will help prevent this issue. Exercise can too. Focusing on building muscle mass in the buttocks helps to cement BBL results. Lunges, squats, cycling, and fitness classes focusing on the legs and butt are optimal for this goal. We can discuss this in more detail when you come to our office for your initial consultation and provide individualized recommendations during your post-BBL follow-up visits.
