Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery or an eyelid lift, can be used to address issues with both the upper and lower eyelid. Lower blepharoplasty can assist in smoothing dark and puffy skin beneath the eyes while working to remove wrinkles from the lower eyelids. Upper blepharoplasty eliminates wrinkles from upper lids while lifting hooded or sagging eyelids into a more youthful and attractive position. In the process, an upper eyelid lift may improve vision that has been obstructed by sagging tissue.

Upper blepharoplasty lifts sagging lids to improve the appearance of the eyes. It can also be used to lift sagging eyebrows. It cannot, however, address crow’s feet at the side of the eyes. For this issue, a dynamic wrinkle relaxer, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, will be the best solution.

Does Insurance Cover Upper Eyelid Surgery?

Lower eyelid surgery is strictly cosmetic and will likely not be covered by insurance. Upper blepharoplasty, on the other hand, may be covered by insurance in instances where an ophthalmologist has deemed the procedure necessary. If you have been referred for eyelid surgery, be sure to check with your insurer to verify coverage.

We accept cash, checks, and major credit cards for all of the procedures we perform. We also work with CareCredit®, a healthcare financing company that provides funding for procedures not covered by insurance policies. During your initial consultation, we can discuss blepharoplasty financing in more detail to give you a complete overview of your options.
